The 2014 MLB All-Star game was about as American as it gets. In fact, the only thing missing was apple pie, because we know it had baseball, hot dogs and Chevrolet.

We think to partially make up for the lack of apple pie, Chevy recently partnered with Major League Baseball to give away either a 2014 Silverado, the North American Truck of the Year or a 2014 Corvette Stingray, the North American Car of the Year. The winner of the 2014 Ted Williams MLB All-Star Game MVP would be given his choice. While personally we’d have gone with the Silverado, Mike Trout, who earned the honor with a 2-3, 1 R and 2 RBI performance, selected the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

“Tonight, we honor the achievements of Mike Trout, the 2014 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, while we showcase our own MVPs, the Corvette Stingray and Chevrolet Silverado,” Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing said while awarding the 2014 Corvette Stingray to Trout, according to a Chevy press release. “We hope many of our fellow baseball fans join us to help raise funds for a worthy cause.”

North American Car of the Year

The worthy cause Edwards is referencing is because Chevy decided to match the gift of a Stingray to Trout, with an auction for a matching Stingray to benefit charity. The only difference is the Corvette up for auction comes with a commemorative hood that’s autographed by all the players and coaches who participated in the 2014 MLB All-Star game. Additionally Chevy donated an autographed Stingray hood to MLB and the MLB Players association to benefit their charitable works.

Maybe an auction for an amazing car with an even more amazing hood, thanks to the autographs, isn’t exactly your style. That doesn’t mean you can’t feel like the MVP of the MLB All-Star Game anyway… Just come pick out your 2014 North American Car or Truck of the Year from Lang Chevy!
