This national location is dedicated to the men and women who served in the First World War, and its iconic Egyptian-style obelisk can be seen from quite a distance. Opened in 2006, this monument and museum draws crowds every year.

Art lovers should stop by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Even the building of this museum is stunning, including both the architecture and reflecting pool. The collection includes a well-known East Asian art exhibit, though there are also famous works by Claude Monet and Dorothea Lange.

Finally, visit Union Station. This landmark was built in 1914 and it was designed to hold up to 10,000 people. The station is actually still operation as an Amtrak stop, and there are also a number of restaurants and shops in the building as well.
