Buick is always searching for the next generation of designers. In its 110 year history, the company has continually sought to hire people who bring new perspective to the world of automotive design and may be able to give them a competitive advantage in the future.

One way in which they recruit young talent into their ranks is through a competition for scholarships to Detroit’s College for Creative Studios and partnership with BASF. Students from around the globe were asked to design and model their own vision of a 2030 Buick car.

next generation designers

In our opinion the winning concepts looks as though it drew inspiration from the 2014 Buick Enclave

“The solutions these concepts offer are as unique as the future car designers at CCS who created them,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of Buick global design in a Buick press release. “For Buick, this project is an invitation for new insights and interpretation of our brand and the future portfolio of products we will offer.”

One of the winning concepts drew some of its power from a section of exposed algae, giving whole new meaning to the concept of a green car. It is amazing to see what these scholarship-winning designers were able to think of and it makes us here at Lang Chevrolet Buick GMC glad we weren’t competing because we never would have thought of something like that.
