Holidays at Union StationThe greater Kansas City area is filled with ways to celebrate Christmas, both indoors and outside. One of the most unique and popular places to go every December is Union Station. As an old train station from 1914 that was renovated in the late 1990s into the museum it is today, Union Station not only houses science and history attractions, it also is a magical place for holiday fun.

Here are some of the many things going on at the month-long 2016 Holidays at Union Station festival.

  • Throughout the month, classic holiday movies like Elf and The Polar Express will be playing in the Reginer Extreme Theatre.
  • Enjoy a ride on the Jones Store Train, a small train that takes kiddos around a festive holiday display.
  • Participate in science demos in Science City, which temporarily houses Santa’s workshop.
  • See an 800-foot long model train exhibit in Sprint Festival Plaza.
  • Watch a special holiday presentation on the Planetarium’s Dome Theatre.
  • Be amazed by the largest indoor Holiday tree around.
  • Get your picture taken with Saint Nick himself!

There are many other great events too, from a craft fair to a swanky New Year’s Eve ball. Read all the details at http://www.unionstation.org/holidays/.
