Chevrolet's Proactive AlertsNo one likes discovering they have something wrong with their vehicle. And, sometimes, we don’t discover the problem until it’s going to cost a small fortune. But, what if your truck could predict the future and warn you of potential problems before they happened? With Chevrolet’s Proactive Alerts feature on the Silverado, that is exactly what happens.

The system collects data during startup and while driving. It also monitors the starter motor, fuel pump, and battery. When it detects anything abnormal, it will send a message to the owner via text, email, and/or in-vehicle notifications. It will also send a message to your local dealership service department so we know what’s going on.

With this system in place, we can spend less time diagnosing the problem, which means more savings passed on to you and less time spent at the shop.

“Accuracy is the key to our prediction algorithms,” said Steve Holland, chief technologist for Vehicle Health Management at General Motors, in a statement. “We will be able to inform dealer service departments so they can spend less time testing for a condition we have already diagnosed. They can replace the necessary part quicker and minimize the amount of time a customer’s vehicle is at the dealership.”

This system is available to On Star subscribers who drive the 2016 Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Equinox, and Corvette.
