2016 Chevy Corvette Stingray

Popular young adult fiction author John Green will be the driver of the traditional Grand Prix of Indianapolis Chevy pace car, a 2016 Corvette Stingray Coupe. The race will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 14.

According to J. Douglas Boles, President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Green is “a huge fan” of the IndyCar Series races and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the organization has been looking for opportunities for Green to participate in their events for a while.

Green, the award-winning author of bestselling novels such as Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars, which inspired the recent box office hit of the same name, is an Indianapolis native, a dedicated IndyCar fan, and a friend of some of the drivers. He’s even in the IndyCar fantasy league, but he has promised to stay neutral as the pace car driver.

The Grand Prix of Indianapolis will kick off three weekends of races at the Motor Speedway, ending with the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday May 29, which will also feature a Chevrolet as the pace car.
