November is here and that means winter will be here before you know it. That means you’ll need to prep for the winter roads! The coldest season of the year doesn’t have to be any worse than the others if you know what to do. Here are some winter driving tips to prepare you for the snow and ice!

Winter Driving Tips

  1. Leave space. Odds are you can’t see the road ahead of the car in front of you so it isn’t wise to tailgate, no matter how late you are. If the car in front of you brakes suddenly, you’ll need more space to react as well. Not leaving enough space could easily cause an accident.
  2. Don’t use cruise control. While cruising around is nice in the warmer months, cruise control can be a hazard during the winter. Black ice and slippery roads can come out of nowhere. Tapping your brakes to deactivate cruise control can lead to a slide.
  3. Don’t get overconfident in a 4v4. Four wheel drive is great to get moving but it doesn’t mean you’ll be able to stop quicker. 4×4 vehicles are usually heavier as well, meaning they’ll take longer to stop than a normal car. Take the proper precautions no matter what vehicle you drive.
