Looks like the Indianapolis 500 pace car might end up being a race contender! Reason being? Not only will the pace car be the new Chevrolet Z06, but behind the wheel will be legendary driver – not to mention Pepsi prankster – Jeff Gordon, who announced his retirement from professional racing earlier this year.

With five Brickyard championship victories to his credit, Gordon is no stranger to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “Indy is hallowed ground for racers like me and I couldn’t be more thrilled to drive the Corvette Z06 pace car around the track that helped drive my success over the years,” Gordon said. “… to be able to participate in such a historic day will be something I remember for the rest of my life.”

This year marks the 13th time a Corvette has been the official Indy 500 pace car, which is more than any other vehicle in the race’s history. The production Z06 adorned in an Arctic White exterior and Adrenaline Red interior that will be driven around the famed raceway boasts 650 supercharged horsepower mated to a seven-speed manual transmission with a track-capable chassis system.

Be sure to come visit us at Lang Chevrolet to see the production ready Chevy Z06 today and watch Jeff Gordon pace the 99th Indianapolis 500 on May 24th!
