When it comes to child safety, Chevrolet takes its role in protecting our kids seriously. With National Child Passenger Safety Week just passed, we thought it would be the perfect time to emphasize the importance of keeping our young passengers safe throughout the year by highlighting some of the automaker’s innovative safety solutions.

“We know there’s a lot that goes into traveling with children, so we try to make the experience as safe and stress-free as possible,” said Julie Kleinert who works as the global technical lead for child safety at General Motors. “Being a mother and grandmother myself gives me a first-hand understanding of the concerns of parents, which is why we work to make it easier to keep kids safe in our vehicles.”

The new 2015 Chevy Colorado Extended Cab makes it easier to fit larger child restraint seats into the pickup through the use of a removable head rest, which extends the length of the rear seat cushion on the passenger side.

The Chevy Impala back seat is engineered to provide a spacious area for child safety seats of all shapes and sizes and LATCH anchorages for all three seats in the rear.

For older children–and even adults–shoulder belt comfort guides are available to prevent the belt from straining against the wearer and to encourage proper seatbelt use. We can install these guides for you right here at Lang Chevrolet.

Other safety features Chevy provides for customers include a child-friendly glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release and child-proof rear door safety locks.
